FAQ
-
Who does the sketch? All sketches are done by hand, without any computer-generated drawings. Each piece is original and crafted entirely by me, ensuring you are purchasing a true one-of-a-kind print. I usually start with one or more photos of the place. I begin with light pencil work to get the perspective and scale correct. The rest of the print is done in ink. Some sketches are left as simple ink drawings for a clean look, while most are shaded in grayscale to create greater contrast, depth, and a realistic quality.

What does it mean to be limited edition?I use high-quality Giclee prints of my original sketches. There are only 50 prints made, and each print will come numbered, hand-titled and signed by me. These prints are truly unique and not available anywhere else. When you purchase a print, you can be sure that you are one of a select few who own it. It’s a personal piece of art inspired by you, someone else, or simply a place you love. It’s unique, personal, and truly one of a kind.

How can I request a sketch? It’s simple. Use the Contact Us form or send me an email at info@stoneybendprints.com with a brief story about why this place is important to you. Include a photo of the place that inspires you. If your request is selected, the sketch and your story will be featured on the site, and the framed print will be available for purchase. If you love it, you can purchase your hand-drawn custom sketch. It will come framed, signed by me and it will be #1 of 50 limited edition prints.
-
If my request is selected, will I receive royalties? There are no royalties on future sales of your requested sketch. Stoney Bend Prints retains all rights to the sketch and prints. It’s just part of the deal, and I hope you’re okay with the policy. If not, I understand.

Why wasn't my request for a sketch selected?I would love to sketch every customer request, but it’s just me, and I simply don’t have time to do them all. Additionally, your request may be something I can’t sketch well—I don’t do people, cars, or similar subjects very well. I could give it a try, but you probably wouldn’t like the result. What helps is a really good story and a great photo. I’m more likely to select something that speaks to me, has broad appeal (think iconic locations or places that no longer exist), or just looks good. Either way, I’ll let you know if your request is selected and how long it will take to complete the sketch.
-
Do you have larger sized prints?I keep my sketches small and consistent in size for a few reasons. I enjoy doing small sketches; it’s just the way I work. All sketches are 5x5 or 4x5. The original sketch is close to this size, and I don’t shrink it down when photographing the original. I find this size fits nicely in the frame and creates a visually appealing scale (at least to me and hopefully to you too). The 12x12 frame is ideal for small spaces and accents. You can also purchase multiple prints to arrange on a larger wall. It’s just the right size and makes for the perfect gift for any hard-to-shop-for person in your life.
-
Can I get the print without the framing?Yes! If you just want the print, you can select that option. Your print will be personally signed and titled, just like the framed print. I add a 1-inch border to the print to make it super easy to mat and frame. Have fun and order as many prints as you’d like!
-
How long will it take to get my print? Each print is hand-assembled and signed when you place your order. I try to ship it out as quickly as possible, but it may take a few days to reach you. Stoney Bend Prints is a small company (it’s just me!), so I do my best, but your patience is appreciated. It will be worth the wait.
-
What if my print is damaged in delivery?I do my best to carefully package your print to avoid damage. Things do happen in life and occasionally a print may arrive damaged. If it does, please let me know right away and I'll send you a replacement as soon as possible.
